CP Cases Ltd is known for designing and manufacturing high-performance protective cases, 19-inch racks and rugged textiles. Used for transport, operation, and storage of essential equipment in commercial and military applications, many products are accredited to MIL-STD-810F, rated IP65 and carry NATO stock numbers.
We spoke to Caitlin Bates, Marketing Communications Executive at CP Cases Ltd who explained the role of the company in more detail.
“We offer the broadest range of protective, operational transit cases for broadcast and media, defence and security, medical and scientific and many other sectors. We have an unparalleled range of in-house skills and expertise with rotomoulded plastic, aluminium, laminated plywood, HPP, textiles and CNC foam machining. Our products are available in a wide range of standard sizes but can also be custom designed to meet clients’ requirements.”
CP Cases Ltd has a rich history that dates back to the 1960’s. Peter Ross and Chris Sherwin, the founders of CP Cases Ltd, were both active semi-professional musicians playing regular gigs across London with strong connections in this emerging scene through their association with Jim Marshall, who at that time was launching his first series of 50-Watt Marshall Amps. From a 2-man band in the late 60’s to the hayloft in Shepherd’s Bush, and then onto a re-purposed deteriorating Victorian laundry in Chiswick, CP Cases Ltd grew vastly in size and popularity.
64 years on and today CP Cases Ltd is globally active across 8 markets with 10 flagship products that are all designed and manufactured in its 31,000 sq. ft warehouse. In this article, we have focussed on its five best-selling products.
Airship
Originally designed to meet the demands of Military and Defence customers, Airship is a combination of bonded layers of honeycomb PP and rigid closed cell foam. Providing a featherweight block which is then CNC machined to excavate pockets and cavities to exactly match the shape and size of the equipment being protected. Accredited to MIL STD 810 and IP65 compliant, it also features a superior lightweight protective solution, and its patented laminated structure gives exceptional strength-to-weight ratio achieving weight/volume ratios of better than 20kg/m³.
Amazon
Produced using a process called rotomoulding which is ideal for manufacturing tough, waterproof products, using a high-quality polyethylene polymer which thickens at the edges and corners to provide extra strength and impact resistance. Accredited to MIL STD 810 and IP65 compliant, Amazon can accommodate COOL A/C for extreme climates and remains stable in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C. It’s moulded-in Amazon Lip engages positively with body to eliminate lid displacement when subjected to sideways impact (Patent Granted).
ERack
A lightweight, 19-inch ruggedised aluminium electronic transit rack specifically designed for commercial and military applications where protection against physical, climatic and electromagnetic hazards are required, and where weight, strength and portability are vital issues. Accredited to MIL STD 810 and IP65 compliant, ERack is highly customisable to client’s applications with short lead times and efficient pricing. It also fits EZG3 slide rails with standard chassis depths available from 350mm to 870mm.
SatRack
Introduced over 10 years ago, SatRack is the ideal ruggedised 19-inch rack solution for flyaway ENG systems and broadcasters worldwide. Designed to achieve super-lightweight solutions for rack mounted portable satellite equipment, it is available in both full 19-inch and half rack sizes. Conforming to IATA guidelines for checked in baggage, the SatRack is ideal for ‘carry on’ applications that require rugged, highly portable, rack-mounted equipment.
The outer bag can feature an external label holder with the option to stack multiple units with added security using optional stacking straps. The 19-inch frame is suspended in a lightweight 10mm rigid honeycombed polypropylene (Astro board) outer shell with angled elastomeric anti vibration mounts and is available in two shore hardnesses that provide 40mm of ‘sway’ space between the rack and outer shell and come available in various grades to give alternative suspension characteristics suiting differing payloads.
Whether debating a products quality, innovation, value for money, brand reputation or customer experience, CP Cases Ltd believe there are several product capabilities which ensure that its products outperform competitors.
Caitlin explained, “For example, our Airship is exceptionally lightweight and there is no equivalent product currently on the market. Additionally, all of our products can be tailored to meet individual clients needs unlike other manufacturers. Whether it’s size, weight or internal features, we can alter any of our original products to meet certain requirements.”
Moving forward, CP Cases Ltd is keen to continue reaching a wider audience through attending a number of exhibitions in 2024 to demonstrate its outstanding product capabilities and to connect with like-minded industry leaders whilst learning about the latest industry trends. CP Cases Ltd will be attending: Security and Policing 2024, Eurosatory 2024, and the IBC Show 2024.
CP Cases Ltd is also hot on the heels of Industry 4.0 which is known as the fourth industrial revolution. With manufacturers around the world looking to integrate new technologies that include IoT, cloud computing analytics and AI, CP Cases Ltd will endeavour to move forward with the times as it looks at the potential of combining smart machines and smart factories into its manufacturing processes to help produce goods more efficiently and productively throughout the value chain.
